Run-off specialist makes new appointments

RiverStone International has appointed Costas Miranthis as independent non-executive director to the group board and Neil Taylor as group chief investment officer.

Miranthis joins the acquirer and reinsurer of legacy and discontinued insurance business with over 30 years’ experience in the financial and insurance industries.

He most recently held the position of president and CEO of Partner Re for 13 years, and serves on the boards of Hiscox, Pacific Life Re and the Argus Group.

Taylor previously served as European chief investment officer at Catalina, where he was responsible for all of the regulated insurance entities in the region for the non-life run-off specialist reinsurer.

He brings to RiverStone International experience in optimising the investment function of a legacy business across multiple asset classes and geographies, which will be useful as the company builds an independent investment strategy.

Luke Tanzer, CEO of RiverStone International, comments: “As RiverStone International continues to expand, we seek to hire the industry’s leading specialists who will strengthen our capabilities and help us offer the best possible service to our clients.”

“We are delighted to welcome Costas and Neil to our group. They bring a wealth of experience and will be central to achieving our growth plans as a focused independent company.”
