Scott Selkirk has been appointed to Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers’ (BILTIR) board of directors.
Selkirk, who has chaired the BILTIR Strategy Committee, is chief underwriting officer at Somerset Re.
He moved to Bermuda in 2007, and he was previously head of pricing at Standard Life of Canada’s Bermuda branch.
BILTIR Chair Sylvia Oliveira, says: “Scott Selkirk has worked tirelessly to make valuable contributions to BILTIR, which includes the onerous task of leading the highly successful BILTIR conference each year since its inception.”
“Selkirk’s vast reinsurance experience, his principled and affable manner, and his consistent high-level dedication to BILTIR made him an outstanding candidate for board directorship. I have no doubt that Selkirk will be a strong asset to the BILTIR board,” Oliveira explains.
Speaking on his new role, Selkirk says: “I’m looking forward to expanding my involvement within BILTIR as a board member. Through the hard work of the BILTIR board, and the many active members of its committees, we will continue to advocate for our members to ensure the impactful work being done in this industry continues to be a local and international success story."
BILTIR recently named Shelby Weldon as executive director.
