AMICE names Oliver Schoeller as board director

The Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe (AMICE), the voice of the mutual and cooperative insurance sector in Europe, has appointed Oliver Schoeller as director on AMICE’s board for a three-year term.

Schoeller was also elected as a vice president of AMICE during its annual general meeting.

With 24 years of experience in the European mutual and cooperative insurance sector, Schoeller was recently appointed as CEO Gothaer Versicherungsbank VVaG and Gothaer Finanzholding.

Commenting on his new appointment, Schoeller noted: “I am delighted to be confirmed in this role and to have the opportunity to provide a contribution to driving forward AMICE’s objectives and priorities at a particularly challenging time.”

He continued: “The mutual/cooperative sector makes an important contribution to its policyholders and wider European society, providing security and stability. It is a story for today’s Europe. AMICE continues to push for the mutual/cooperative model to be better understood and respected.”

AMICE president Grzegorz Buczkowsk commented: “We are delighted that AMICE’s membership has approved the appointment of Schoeller to the board and as a vice president.”

He stated: “German mutual insurers play a critical role in their country, protecting businesses and individuals alike. AMICE’s board is looking forward to working with Schoeller to ensure that the mutual insurance community in Germany and across Europe continues to be fully represented to European policymakers.”

“I would like to thank his predecessor on the AMICE board, Christopher Lohmann, for his deep support and assistance to AMICE during his time as a director and vice president,” he added.
