Nichol & Co, an actuarial and risk consulting firm, will host a webinar on the captive insurance industry in The Bahamas to promote the industry to local professionals and other service providers on 28 May 2020.
The webinar will be hosted by Rayon Brown, a consulting actuary with Nichol & Co, and a director of Nassau Captive Management Services.
Brown has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, of which several years was spent working in London.
Nichol & Co suggested that The Bahamas are well-positioned to take advantage of any anticipated growth in the captive insurance industry, which they add “would help with diversifying its offering as a leading international financial centre”.
It outlined that the traditional insurance market appears likely to continue hardening and may experience a level of disruption from events like the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This climate is expected to create opportunities in the captive insurance market as insurers often impose strict underwriting standards and increase premiums during hard markets”, Nichol & Co added.
