Bermuda Captive Conference rescheduled

The Bermuda Captive Conference (BCC) has been rescheduled to 09 to 11 September due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

The conference, which will remain at the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda, was originally due to take place on 08 to 10 June.

In the announcement from BCC, it noted that the early-bird registration deadline has been extended to 31 August 2020.

Leslie Robinson, BCC chair and senior vice-president, head of underwriting and claims at Willis Towers Watson Management in Bermuda, commented: “These are difficult times for everyone and the with the full impact of COVID-19 still unfolding, rescheduling the event to later in the year is in the best interest of all our stakeholders, as well as our community.”

She added: “We look forward to welcoming our sponsors and supporters to a successful and safe event in Bermuda this September. We are incredibly grateful to the Fairmont Southampton for working with us to accommodate this prestigious event at a later date in the year.”

Brian Quinn, agenda chair and managing director, Granite Management Limited, said: “This year’s agenda structure has been themed around ‘Vision’ and was developed to create a forward-looking view of the market. But with the unprecedented developments around the fast-moving COVID-19 landscape creating seismic impacts on the global markets, little did we know just how relevant the discussion of ‘Vision’ for the future would be.”

“We hope to demonstrate to both risk managers who may not have considered captive insurance before, and owners of existing captive insurers how they can innovatively tackle new and emerging risks facing all sizes of business in this new environment,” he added.
