NAIC names committee leadership for 2019

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has named its committee chairs and vice chairs for 2019.

NAIC assigned members to the organisation’s standing committees based on preference, experience, and requirements established by the association’s bylaws.

Doug Ommen, commissioner, Iowa Insurance Division, has been named chair of the life insurance and annuities committee, with Stephen Taylor, commissioner, District of Columbia Insurance, Securities and Banking.

The health and insurance and managed care committee will be chaired by Jessica Altman, commissioner, Pennsylvania Insurance Department, and vice-chaired by Lori Wing-Heier, director, Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Insurance.

Elizabeth Kelleher Dwyer, superintendent, State of Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation, Division of Insurance, has been appointed property and casualty insurance committee, with Scott White, commissioner, Virginia State Corporation Commission Bureau of Insurance, as vice chair.

The market regulation and consumer affairs committee will be chaired by Chlora Lindley-Myers, director, Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration, and vice-chaired by Allen Kerr, commissioner, Arkansas Insurance Department.

David Altmaier, commissioner, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, takes the role of chair of the financial condition committee, while Tom Glause, commissioner, Wyoming Insurance Department, takes the role of vice chair.

The financial regulation standards and accreditation committee will be chaired by Todd Kiser, commissioner, Utah Insurance Department, and vice-chaired by Jillian Froment, director, Ohio Department of Insurance.

Julie Mix McPeak, commissioner, Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, has been chosen to chair the international insurance relations committee, with Gary Anderson, commissioner, Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation Division of Insurance, as vice chair.

Eric Cioppa, NAIC president and superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance, commented: "The 2019 NAIC committee leadership reflects deep expertise and a strong commitment to service across all our committees.”
