Connecticut prepares for Annual Collaborative and 'cap-a-thon'

The Connecticut Captive Insurance Association (CCIA) is preparing for its 2018 Captive Collaborative Event, including its first ever ‘cap-a-thon’.

The event, which is focussed on ‘innovation and managing cyber risk through captives’, takes place in Hartford, Connecticut, on the 16 and 17 October.

On the 16 October, the Hartford Club will play host to the Connecticut insurance innovation reception, including a networking reception and a Hartford insurance innovation panel.

A full-day collaborative event will take place at Upward Hartford on the 17 October, with sessions focussing on the state’s captive market. cyber risk exposure, cyber risk quantification, cyber data in the first half of day, followed by the ‘cap-a-thon’ in the afternoon.

The ‘cap-a-thon’, the CCIA’s twist on a ‘hackathon’, will see contributors and other subject-matter experts collaborate intensively on a project or innovation to deliver a solution.

Attendees will be split into six industry focussed groups, with each team sharing ideas and identifying the top cyber challenges their industry faces.

The association hopes that the ‘cap-a-thon’ will “invigorate the standard captive conference format” and encourage “encouraging intense collaboration and teamwork”.

A statement from CCIA added: “not only do we hope attendees will uncover possible solutions that open the door to further work and collaboration, but it is our hope that attendees leave the event with new and fruitful business relationships.”

Tickets for the event are still available here.
