Aon has appointed Andrew Marcell as its new CEO of reinsurance solutions.
Effective immediately, Marcell will be responsible for the management of existing operations and the growth strategy of Aon’s reinsurance solutions business as it begins its brand transition from Aon Benfield.
Marcell will continue to be based in New York and report to Eric Andersen, co-president of Aon.
Marcell joined Aon as head of strategy for Aon Benfield in 2015 and was appointed president of Aon Benfield in 2017.
Prior to joining Aon, Marcell was CEO of Guy Carpenter’s US operations and head of its global facultative business.
The move follows Aon’s announcement in May that it will retire the Aon Benfield and Aon Risk Solutions brands.
Marcell said he looks forward to taking on a broader role.
