Caldwell promoted to deputy active underwriter

Barbican Insurance Group has promoted Andy Caldwell to deputy active underwriter of Syndicate 1955, effective immediately. He will report to David Booth, active underwriter of Syndicate 1955.

Caldwell will work closely with Booth to strengthen existing client relationships and to enhance the underwriting capabilities of the syndicate. In addition, he will continue in his current role as head of international casualty reinsurance.

Booth commented: “[Caldwell] is a central pillar of the senior management team having joined Barbican in March 2008, very soon after our launch.”

“He has an outstanding level of underwriting expertise, with over 25 years of experience in the international casualty sector, and is highly respected within Barbican and across the market. I look forward to working closely with him as we seek to further strengthen our market position.”

Caldwell added: “I am delighted to be taking up the role of deputy active underwriter at such an exciting stage in Barbican’s development. I look forward to building on the considerable success we have achieved.”
