Hiscox makes ILS appointments in Bermuda

Hiscox Re’s insurance-linked securities (ILS) subsidiary Kiskadee investment manager has added fresh faces to its Hamilton offices in Bermuda.

Two new people have been appointed, one of which will manage two of the new Kiskadee ILS funds.

Alan Cossar has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of the two new Kiskadee ILS funds, and Richard Lowther as COO.

After four years of employment as an independent financial services professional, Cossar served as chairman of the Bermuda Monetary Authority from 2009 to 2012.

Lowthar previously worked at AlphaCat Managers, as COO. He was responsible for developing the ILS management structure and operational processes.

Jeremy Pinchin, Hiscox Re’s CEO, commented on the appointments: “Richard Lowther’s operational ILS expertise will play a crucial role as we continue to scale up our operations, while Alan Cossar will provide invaluable insight and guidance.”
