Jupiter Insurance ratings are out of this world

A.M. Best has confirmed the financial strength rating of “A (Excellent)” and issuer credit rating of “a” of Guernsey based, Jupiter Insurance.

Jupiter Insurance is a captive of international oil and gas company, BP.

The ratings reflect Jupiter’s strong underwriting performance as well as its strong risk-adjusted capitalisation.

“Offsetting these positive rating factors is Jupiter’s high level of risk retention, as well as its concentrated investment portfolio, which primarily contains financial instruments linked to its parent, BP,” said the rating firm in a recent statement.

The outlook for both ratings is stable and upward ratings actions are unlikely at present.
