Marsh set to address digital threats

Marsh is holding its Digital Threats 2013 Conference, to help firms defend their operations against cyber and privacy risk.

“Businesses are increasingly concerned about the potential impact of cyber and privacy risk on their revenues and reputations, in the wake of high-profile security breaches, hacking scandals and more incisive data protection regulation,” said Marsh in a recent statement.

The keynote address at the conference will be delivered by Baroness Manningham-Buller, former director general of M15. Speakers include Nick pickles, director of Big Brother Watch and Jonathan Shaw, international practice director, Digital Barriers.

Stephen Wares, Marsh’s cyber risk practice leader in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, commented: “Cyber risk is increasingly accepted as a day to day risk that organisations now face, alongside more traditional risks.”

“With this acceptance, firms now realise that they need to invest in mitigating cyber risk, which is why over $1 billion is now spent globally on cyber insurance. However, insurance alone is not panacea. Delegates to Marsh’s conference will learn how to manage cyber and privacy risks more effectively to protect both their tangible and intangible assets.”

Marsh’s 17th annual technology conference will take place at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on 22-23 May.
